Met Ball 2011: Alexander McQueen honoured (video)





Telegraphy uk: The famous and the fashionable attend the 2011 Costume Institute Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art to honour the work of the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen.

The 'Met Ball', fashion's equivalent of the Oscars, boasted a stellar line-up of Hollywood's A-list who turned out to mark the opening of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition.

In attendance was royal wedding dress designer Sarah Burton. Miss Burton became creative director for the fashion house following Mr McQueen's death in February 2010. On the red carpet Miss Burton accepted congratulatory wishes from fans of the Duchess of Cambridge's outfit.

The star-studded gala saw appearances from rapper Jay-Z, who arrived with pop-star wife Beyonce Knowles, Mick Jagger and partner L'Wren Scott and Sir Paul McCartney and girlfriend Nancy Shevell.

Other celebrity attendees included actresses Demi Moore, Renee Zellweger and Gwyneth Paltrow, pop-stars Madonna and Rihanna as well as a host of famed fashion designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney.
