It looks like a mix between a Rio MP3 player and a 3rd gen iPod
it's prototype.. unless it's a a fake of course. If they manage to seamlessly integrate this into Windows they've a good chance to beat the **** out of the iPod (so far, all the hardware that Microsoft produces is great.. I'm using a Microsoft Natural keyboard as well as a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse with my Powerbook).

Apple once again confirmed that more and more people are moving in the Mac camp. The stock is still cheap. In the next 6 months we will see more switchers as new products come out.

Once I get my iMac will get the free basic MobileMe and purchase the very reasonable 20.00/year for music.
It's cheaper than DropBox which charges 200.00 /year 100GB and 100.00 /year 50 GB Even if I didn't get the music I'd be getting the 200.00 and 100.00 pkgs from Dropbox for free.

But there is a pretty big chasm between being selfish, and not wanting to pay for someone else's self-inflicted stupidity. Me too. I lived in the DC area before and reception was fine. Now I live in Cincinnati (not exactly a population dense area) and I have about 20% of my calls dropped or can't be completed. And when I'm on-call, this is so horrible it frightens me. I've been ready for a new carrier for months now (and I've only been with AT&T for 9 months), but not quite ready for a new phone (yet).

Thunderbolt would be a killer feature for this machine - and would open up a whole load of expansion options.
Sonnet are marketing a load of interesting accessories, from Gigabit ethernet and FW800 adapters, to RAID arrays, to full-size PCIe expansion card housings, all of which can connect via Thunderbolt.
Those CPUs are pretty fast. For everyone except gamers it should be a nice machine.
Those PCIe housings could make for external graphics that don't suck. Whether that is practical at all is another story.

Why is MS so bad for limiting how you can run their software? Apple won't let you install their OS on any machine that's not made by them. The "no virtualization" restriction seems pretty lax compared to that. Especially when you consider that MS is doing nothing to enforce it, and Apple has included hardware/software to block the use of their software on 'unauthorized' hardware.

Yeah, I would estimate my dropped call rate is around 20-30% (Northern Virginia) sometimes higher depending on the day. They said they built a new tower near me, but ever since I got that message, my coverage has dropped at least one to two bars everywhere I go.

The iPhone 4 will still be the best smartphone on the market when the iPhone 5 comes out.

Makes sense because they can't really upgrade the iPod line that dramatically anymore. Thus they can introduce the new iPhone 5 and iPod Touch together, without people already knowing what the iPod Touch will encompass.
Only question is, can Apple keep the demand in Fall? with iPod line, iPhone and Mac upgrades?

I would have to say its because apple was in production fixing the Iphone 4 for 8 months just to get the white one in stores and i would have to say that put them behind on production of a new phone.

The only people who lump in tablets and PMPs into the platform are apple lovers who are in denial. Everyone else separates them by device. Smartphones are compared to smartphones. Tablets to tablets, etc.
But that's what the iOS platform is: an OS that runs on tablets, PMP's and phones.
The people who care about the platform are developers, which are kind of important to everyone who uses the platform.

A few clarifications that pertain to AT&T/T-Mobile and this story:
* The most valuable thing T-Mobile has is it's *spectrum*. The network itself, while quite valuable, isn't the key here at all. Oh, it's a factor, but it's not the reason why the Death Star is after it.
* T-Mobile has not been bought. There's just a stated intent for AT&T to buy T-mobile. The purchase process will take many months, and there are many regulatory hurdles to overcome. Since this will mean reducing the number of national (or near national) carriers, it will get heavy scrutiny, and there's more than a small chance that the deal will be rejected, or come with so many conditions that AT&T will withdraw the offer.
* Between now and the actual purchase, the companies can do some exploratory work with each other but they cannot operate in any way as if the deal has already taken place. AT&T cannot ask APPL to test the iPhone at T-Mobile bands.
There are probably some ways around the last bullet (called "gun jumping") but with a deal with this level of scrutiny, nothing is going to happen which jeopardizes the deal.

Yes. I really wouldn't care if iPhone hardware upgrades came every 2 years. Just keep those iOS updates coming! That's the more important part now.

We are getting to a point where acceleration in software developments is going to take over acceleration in hardware development/production, if any.
Just as it turns out for the rest of Si-manu./PC/Tech industry, hardware has more or less reached a settling point. It's going to grow but not at a pace we have had until now. Software is more important; has always been imo.

OMG....I would NEVER take information as fact from an "ATT customer service agent". I have received so much wrong info or even been dare I say lied to, I would never trust what a random ATT rep said.
Not to mention, the service reps are so far down the chain of command, they would not have info on when the next iphone is being released.

A. Not knowing what the ****** they're talking about.
B. Making something up to get you off the phone.
One of the many reasons I will never again give AT&T a dime of my money.
