Vin Diesel Would Like 'Fast Five' to Get Oscar Nod

ZIMBIO:  Vin Diesel wants his chance to thank the Academy.

The Fast Five star is riding high on the success of his latest car racing flick, which has dominated theaters since its release in April. There are already plans for a sixth installment of the film franchise, which first hit theaters in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious. But before that happens, Diesel hopes he and his coworkers get some elusive critical recognition for their smash hit.

Vin told the Los Angeles Times, "I wouldn't be surprised if there is some Oscar talk around this. I don't know, maybe I'm just biting off what some guy from Channel 7 thought ... But sooner or later, people are gonna say, 'Wait a minute, just because they are for the working class doesn't mean they're not great.'"
