Hi guys, I am trying to understand this whole process and was wondering if you could help me out.
I'm a CPA working for a Big4 in the US for h1-B. I have 2 years of experiences (1 with the same company). I am not from Europe. I have the following 2 questions:
1. What can I expect in terms of waiting for a GC if my employer were to file today? It's a huge firm and submits many GC sponsorship requests per year. I belieave 700 were submitted in 2009.
2. Would my CPA/Lvl 2 CFA Certification as well as my membership in professional organizations and performance bonuses (highlighting exceptional ability) bump me up to EB2 if EB3 is not current?

Immigration gurus, need your advice ASAP
my current H1B visa expires 03/07 . If I can fill for extension and while petion is pending with USCIS for processing can I travel outside USA ?
I asked lawyer to apply for extension first week of september . I have I140 approved and he will request 3 years increment .
my job requires traveling outside USA and I'm wonder if I can travel back and forth until petition is approved .
I know that after approval I need to get visa stamp .
Your quick inputs will be highly appreciated

I sent an email to chennai consulate requesting emergency appointment and they gave me the earliest available date. I had to provide my passport number and return travel date.
Went to HDFC bank and got the DD for visa fees and VFS fees and went to consulate at the specified time. Visa interview went fine and the officer said I could collect my passport at the VFS counter if I need it immediately.
I went to the chennai VFS counter for 2 days in a row to collect my passport and they said they did not recieve it yet. The third day I called and was told that passport can be picked up. But when my uncle went to pick it up they said it was not there.
I called the courier company Bluedart and gave them my passport number and they said it is in transit and I recieved it.
So the visa interview went fine but there were some unexpected delays in recieving the passport. Finally I got it on the day of my travel and came back to US finally.
Just wanted to update all about my experience and thank you for all your help.

I got in the habit of reformatting cards after a few episodes of returning a card with pix remaining to a different body and having it reset my numbering system. It's not uncommon to download cards from more than one body at a time. It's easier for me to format than to keep track of which card(s) came from which body.
I use (in order) a blower, an arctic butterfly, a lens pen. I check before going to the next step and try to get the job done with the least intrusion.

USCIS Looks at I-94 you entered on the I-485 application.
You must enter the latest I-94 number on the I-485, which is the one you get when you enter US on Aug 15th.
That's the basis for them to track your status in US.

About CIR.
The CIR bill is definitely coming back. Obama has mentioned it few times that solving the current immigration problem is one of his highest priority. Now we will need to wait and see what changes they can add to the existent CIR bill to help legals. But I would think most of the bill should remain the same since they have wasted a lot of time and effort in coming up with it

Can IV do a press release and circulate thru news wire? IV can write an article about legal immigration and what IV is doing for it. You can submit your release thru sites like http://www.prweb.com/
They are free and if you pay some fee (I think $80), news will go to many popular news portals.

When will, we EB3s (India), see some light at the end of the tunnel.

I am scheduling an Infopass appointment at my local USCIS office in the hope of getting an interim EAD. It has been more than 90 days since they received my application.
I have a few questions:
1. What do i need to bring?
2. What should i expect?
3. What kind of questions would they ask?
Your experience in this matter is great appreciated!

Take your original receipt notice and the infopass appointment sheet so you will be let in to talk to someone.
The officer there will email/call/get in touch with the service center who is processing your EAD application to see what is happening. The reality is that normally you will get your 'actual' EAD within two weeks from then. It takes as much time to produce and send an interim card (also big waste of money) as it does for them to adjudicate your application.
It really is no big deal.

I don't think it is a good idea to restrict members by the amount they contribute. As we already know we only have around 200 members that actually contribute financially out of the 7K membership.
We are a grassroots organization we need all the foot solders we can get (remember how effective it was in December, when we mobilized together). Restricting users would turn members away and when we loose them, we loose them for good. There will not be any references from those who leave.
Remember Howard Dean's fund raising campaign mostly they collected $10 and $20 not just big amounts for his presidential campaign. We must take what we can and encourage members to participate. When members see what we do they will volunteer.
A first time visitor to our website is not going to trust us to give money with out knowing what we are all about. When we restrict them they will never know what we are doing.
Just think about it. Would you do it?
