I had mailed and faxed sen Specter's office asking for an appointment. Spoke to Mr Kenneth Altman, the immigration incharge. He said there was no point in an appointment, since their office is WELL AWARE of the Retrogression problem all over the country. He DID however say, i could mail him the Powerpoint presentation and he would take a look at it. I will Do that this week.

you also should note that the writer does not talk about NRE / FCNR accounts at all. The interest income from these accounts has been declared completely exempt (no matter how much) from income tax. So on one hand you have accounts which are completely exempt and on the other (NRO) you are going to tax more???

You can consult any lawyer. To the best of my knowledge you dont need employer sponsorship if ur a PhD although i could be wrong.

I did that recently for an interview at New Delhi.
You will need to fill all the forms and then be allowed to proceed to pick a date for interview.
For sake of convenience fill in the field 1 to 14 on the main form and then you can come back and modify rest of the fields till two days before the interview appointment, that might save you some time. As far I remember you can modify most of the fields in other forms.
Use Internet Explorer, I had some additional problems because I was using Firefox.

Hi. I came from the Philippines and signed a contract for a 3-year obligation as a PT here in the US. My employer paid my recruiter (agency) fees to get me here. In the whole process, I did not shell out anything except for my airfare and other minor fees. However, my recruiter made this written contract saying that if I breach it, I have to pay all the expenses, as in literally all of it regardless of how long I already worked within the three-year period. I just feel that I am being held by my employer since I am planning to move to another company that would better give me the chance to have a green card to a place where I really like to live. Is it really legal that a recruiter make a copy of a contract/bond for the employer and the recruit to sign on it and for me to be responsible to pay all of the fees should I breach the contract? Is there any law/article that prohibits this practice?

They may ask you whether you are going to work at the employers location or whether you are going to work at some third party's location. In the latter case you you may be asked to submit a copy of the contract between the end client and your company for your job specifically. Your previous denial may have an impact but your new case should not be rejected if you have sufficient documentation. Only if the previous denial was because of a "fraud" should it become a difficult issue for you to get a visa because i think such cases have a limitation of a few years before you can re-apply.

As just as importance, read the laws. A traffic ticket turning into a weapons charge because you kept it in a glovebox without authority would be bad for future immigration purpose. Note I do not know if example is valid, just saying you never know and there are laws about how you keep them around yourself.

I agree that you guys should push for an ammendment that one should be able to file 485 and join the queue and get the derivative benefits once 140 is approved. If we get that alone it is better than nothing.
However let me put it to you guys that without the green card in hand, living in limbo land albeit with some mobility is no fun either. Isn't that sort of what the illegals have now at their own labour level. We will be 2nd class citizens to be discarded at a fire brand politician's whim and fancy.If that wait is many years it will not be good. Further those applying later and later will eventually end up with inordinate waits leaving them the choice of waiting for decades like in some family based categories.
I am only saying this since it was stated that this should be the number one priority. The absolute number one priority for all of us should be to quicken the time to a GREEN CARD.

mine was filed NSC but transferred to TSC. I called my lawyer and just heard this news. lawyer received notices today.

I don't think so. I applied for AP on my own - and I got only 2 copies, not three.
I too applied on my own and I got 3. May be 1 extra copy...that's why, i guess, the first offices gave me one copy right away and took 2 other copies.
