NICOLA ROBERTS has collaborated with rising shoe designer

Vogue:  NICOLA ROBERTS has collaborated with rising shoe designer Atalanta Weller to create the shoe she will wear as she launches her solo career - and the designer revealed the Girls Aloud star was very involved in the process.

"A collaboration is like a good conversation," Weller told us. "Nicola came to my studio a couple of times and I went to hers; we initially chatted about her music, the forthcoming album and how this related to her vision for the shoes. I went away and started designing my response to this. After our first meeting I was excited by her ideas and collaborating with people who have a strong vision is really fantastic. Nicola considers everything she does really carefully and has a totally clear view of what she wants to achieve. While the shoes are just a small part of this, I knew it would be interesting and fun to work together."

"I think we are an unlikely pairing which is why I was intrigued when Nicola approached me about working together," Weller - whose own collections have a more utilitarian feel - added. "I think that she has incredible style and she's extremely distinctive, luxurious and original in the way she wears clothes. I have not collaborated like this before and the fact that it was for the launch of Nicola's solo music career meant we could be quite experimental. Everything was new and fresh."

Although the jewelled wedge won't be available to buy, Weller insists there's plenty for her fans to look forward to.

"The wedge is an Atalanta Weller signature shape so look out for it reinventing itself in my spring/summer 2012 collection," she said. "My first collaboration was with Gareth Pugh and I've been fortunate to work with some fantastic designers from there on. There are some great things in the pipeline, so watch this space!"

Bar Refaeli is also sexy fully clothed

HQ-CELEBRITY - It’s easy to get spoiled by all of the fantastically sexy pictures of Bar Refaeli in tiny bikinis. The woman has such an incredible body, it’s only natural to want to see as much of it as possible. When I saw these pictures, my first feeling was one of disappointment. I mean, she’s in a dress. Upon closer and careful inspection, I realized that Bar is just as seductive fully clothes and, as hard as it is to believe, maybe even more seductive. There’s a little mystery with this dress. It hugs her body perfectly so it’s still very sexy, but at the same time, it has that gloriously low cut back and the little peek-a-boo cutouts at the neck. Lovely. Apparently, these pictures are from the premiere of ‘The Beaver’ at Cannes. The beaver. Cannes. There is definitely a joke there but I’m not gonna touch it.

Anja Rubik’s £125,000 pair of shoes

At the amFAR gala in Cannes last night, all eyes were not on Polish model Anja Rubik's never-ending, honey-coloured bambi-esque legs, but her jewel encrusted stilettos.

Designed by the Italian shoe maverick Giuseppe Zanotti, of whom the 25-year-old is the 'face', the shoes were, even by the glitzy standards of the Cannes Film Festival, certainly not just another expensive accessory. Made in conjunction with Chopard, the Swiss 'jeweller to the stars', the pink satin sandals with dizzying 12.5cm heels comprised no less than 600 briolette-cut stones, including rubellites, pink sapphires, diamonds and rubies set on rose gold adorn the ankle strap.

Totalling 360 carats, it was surprising that Rubik had her jewel-clad feet firmly on the ground, and wasn't ordered to travel via a 'magic carpet' to cushion her every move. But she did have a matching pair of hoop earrings, set with the same briolette-cut stones as her shoes.

And at what was arguably the most star-studded event of the film festival's calendar, Rubik tottered up to the stage to play out her very own Cinderella moment as her precious shoes were auctioned off in front of an A-list crowd made up of Kanye West, Jane Fonda, Kirsten Dunst and Janet Jackson, to name but a few. Joined on the podium by veteran supermodel Eva Herzigova, Rubik's adornments fetched the princely sum of £125,000, won by a private bidder.

Minus her bling-tastic jewels and heels, we wonder if Rubik really had a riches-to-rags style evening, or if she managed to keep her Emilio Pucci feathered dress past midnight…(telegraphy uk)
